Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify motivators and barriers to bedside nurses participating in research, evidence based projects, quality improvement initiatives and dissemination of information.
  2. Discuss strategies used to promote active participation of bedside nurses in research, evidence based projects, quality improvement initiatives, and dissemination of information in a hospital based maternal/infant/child program.
  3. Describe outcomes for nurses who involve themselves in research, evidence based projects, quality improvement initiatives and dissemination of information.
Submission Description:
As nurse we are compelled to contribute and can make a difference through participation in research, evidence based projects and innovative initiatives. However, the process of getting involved in these areas of practice can seem daunting to nurses, thus it needs to be demystified and active involvement encouraged. This presentation outlines a program that was developed in a regional tertiary care hospital to promote nurses' involvement in evidence-based practice projects, research projects and dissemination of quality improvement work.
