In 2013 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of saving lives through newborn screening. Nurses help draw blood samples on the 4 million babies born in the U.S. every year. In this session we tell the story of newborn screening through the eyes of parents, focusing on the importance of the nurse’s role. Case studies, videos, demonstrations, active audience participation and parent’s personal perspectives are featured.
