  1. Review the definition of and need for health literacy.
  2. Describe the role and responsibility of the nurse as it relates to translation of health information.
  3. Prepare and commit to being a “champion” for translation of information to improve health literacy.
Submission Description:
This presentation provides an overview of the state of health literacy in the United States and how suboptimal communication affects patients in various settings. Case studies will provide participants with new ways to think about and engage others at the patient, inter-professional, and community level. Nurses will receive resources and learn specific ways to impact patient care, satisfaction, and improve outcomes through effective translation of medical information.
