Submission Description:
Sore nipples are the bane of breastfeeding mothers and top the list of reasons why mothers abandon breastfeeding. From nipples less than 7mm in length to improperly fitted breast pump flanges, ankyloglossia, labial tongue ties, and poor latch, this presentation will explore the etiology, assessment, interventions, and "cures" for sore nipples. There’s always the standard "fixes," but also on the table are some unexpected interventions such as peppermint oil, coconut oil, and medical grade honey.
