Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe & demonstrate 3 labor support strategies to promote pain relief & physiologic labor progression.
  2. Describe & demonstrate 3 physiologic maternal positions & their relative advantages during labor/birth.
  3. Discuss the current recommendations for the nursing management of 2nd stage labor & strategies for implementing them into clinical practice.
Submission Description:
The focus of this seminar is the use of non-pharmacologic, complementary pain management strategies & maternal positioning & movement to facilitate labor progress. All content is evidence-based with references to current literature & research. Hands-on participation & small group work will be included to generate ideas for implementing these strategies into current nursing practice.
