Title: PC2 - Fetal Morse Code: Translating Fetal Monitoring Language for Daily Practice

Disciplines: Childbearing (CB)

Learning Objectives:
  1. Review principles of FHR interpretation using a standardized approach
  2. Analyze FHR patterns and uterine activity through selected case studies
  3. Discuss optimal management strategies for antepartum and intrapartum FHR tracings
Submission Description:
Antepartum and intrapartum nurses are often challenged by the perplexing world of fetal heart rate baseline rates, rhythms, periodic and non-periodic changes not to mention baffling uterine activity patterns. During this session, we will use a standardize approach to discuss interpretation and management that is evidence based and reflects consensus in the literature. Highlighted case studies will emphasize the tenets of fetal heart monitoring and relevant standards of care.
