This presentation will describe the process of nursing making a cutting-edge and "never done here before" sweeping practice change that included bringing together multiple disciplines to not only develop a comprehensive postpartum hemorrhage protocol but to change practice in maternal newborn nursing, operative and perioperative services, anesthesia and care providers. The new protocol was sweeping in it's coverage of the patient care, providing a standardized approach and incorporated hands-on, low-fidelity simulation with all members of the health care team working together to improve outcomes of our patients' experiences. the outcomes of the new protocol have been more than decrease in transfusions and pph-related adverse outcomes but have included new working relationships and improved communication among the various members of the healthcare team.
