Research indicates a healthcare provider’s ability to listen, explain and empathize can be a positive event for the patient, family, and healthcare team. Opportunity exists to enhance the patient and clinician’s experience through skilled communication training. This presentation focuses on one organization’s commitment to a culture of safety using communication skills to disclose unexpected events and outcomes with patients and families.
