  • The learner will be able to describe the impact of communication for positive maternal and neonatal outcomes.
  • The learner will be able to identify 3 key steps in the implementation of multidisciplinary safety rounds.
  • The learner will be able to identify 3 of the barriers to implementation of multidisciplinary safety rounds.

  • Submission Description:
    Ineffective communication among health care professionals has been shown to be a leading cause of medical errors resulting in patient harm. The Joint Commission has reported that communication has been implicated as the root cause in 70% of sentinel events. Safety Rounds is multidisciplinary patient-centered rounds and provides the opportunity for nurses, physicians and case managers to gather together to review and communicate patient information.
