Learning Objectives:
  • The learner will be able to identify common labor practices and riturals for the six identified prevalent cultures
  • The learner will be able to identify post-partum practices and rituals for the six identified prevalent cultures
  • The learner will have increased awareness of cultural differences and this increased knowledge will decrease bias and judgement.

  • Submission Description:
    The Pacific Northwest enjoys a diverse population from across the globe, as well as attracting families that embrace alternative life-styles. Today's family wants a personalized and meaningful birth experience. Having knowledge of cultural norms and practices allows nursing staff to provide culturally competent nursing care.
