Learning Objectives:
  • Learner will be able to explain the role of interprofessional experiences in nursing education.
  • Learner will recognize steps in developing an interprofessional educational simulation experience
  • Learner will identify interprofessional opportunities at his/her institution

  • Submission Description:
    This interprofessional pilot project's purpose was to develop a collaborative educational simulation for nursing and divinity students. Six nursing and two divinity students collaborated to optimize physical and spiritual care for a simulated postpartum patient who experienced obstetrical complications Participants reported benefits in improved: • interprofessional education across diverse schools • understanding of each other’s roles in patient care • communication between disciplines • awareness of collaboration opportunities • patient outcomes
