Title: C6 - Communication - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...Implementing and Measuring Team Training

Learning Objectives:
- Review team training techniques utilized in the labor and delivery setting to improve patient outcomes.
- Describe the importance of leadership in team training and engagement of physcians.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of a team training program utilizing the Adverse Outcome Index.
Evidence demonstrates that errors happen most often when the following occur: interruptions, fatigue, multi-tasking, failure to follow up, poor hand-offs, ineffective communication and workload fluctuations. These occur daily if not all at the same time on a busy labor and delivery unit. Follow a large delivery hospital’s journey in implementing team training in its obstetrical units and primarily private physician groups.
