Learning Objectives:
- Review physiologic adaptations of pregnancy that may predispose the woman to hemodynamic compensation.
- Identify the most common obstetrical reasons for admission to an adult critical care unit.
- Outline key elements for recognition of change in hemodynamic status and principles for safe transport.
This session will examine reasons for maternal admission to an adult critical care unit. Common diagnoses, initial identification and stabilization, and principles of safe transport will be discussed.
