  2. Discuss the impact of weight loss surgery on fertility, pregnancy and perinatal outcomes.
  3. List two long term health benefits of weight loss surgery.
Submission Description:
Obesity is a major public health issue world wide; and more and more women are turning to weight loss surgery when other remedies fail. This session will more closely examine the effects of weight loss surgery across a woman’s lifespan. What are best practices in recommending birth control or menopause symptom management? What is the surgery’s impact on fertility, pregnancy and perinatal outcomes? What is the surgery’s long term effect on osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, cancer and other chronic diseases?
