C3 - Better Bones, Stronger Body: New Strategies to Prevent and Manage Bone Loss
Disciplines: Women’s Health (WH), Advanced Practice (AP)
Learning Objectives:
- Identify pre and post menopausal women at risk for bone loss and fracture.
- Describe appropriate non pharmacologic treatment options for low bone mass.
- Describe actions and safety profile for pharmacologic management of osteoporosis.
Our bones reach their maximum density in the third decade, but many women enter midlife with a fragile skeleton and a poor understanding of how to maintain bone strength and prevent fracture. This presentation will focus on practical prevention and treatment strategies that women's health care nurses can use in daily practice for women of all ages.
