  2. Describe the medical and nursing literature related to the practice of homebirth.
  3. Discuss the impact of homebirth on hospital birth.
Submission Description:
Less than 1% of women giving birth in America choose homebirth. The predominant thought related to homebirth is that it is unsafe. Hospital nurses primarily witness homebirth transports that occur when birth in the home becomes complicated. This session will explore the facts related to homebirth and discuss why families make this choice. The session will also explore ways that providers of homebirth and providers of hospital birth may develop collegial relationships.
