C6 - Fetal Heart Rate Response to In-Utero Bleeding
Disciplines: Childbearing (CB), Advanced Practice (AP)
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss in-utero conditions that result in fetal blood loss (e.g., fetomaternal hemorrhage, TTTS, ruptured vasa previa)
- Identify FHR characteristics related to fetal blood loss
- Review additional causes of in-utero bleeding (abruptio placenta, uterine rupture)
Whether responding to fetal blood loss or combined maternal-fetal blood loss, the fetal heart rate tracing displays various characteristics. This presentation will review case studies including fetal heart tracings of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, ruptured vasa previa, fetomaternal hemorrhage, abruptio placenta, and uterine rupture.
