Learning Objectives:
- Describe the drivers and goals of current US health system reform efforts.
- Identify 3 key provisions of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and implementation implications for states and health systems.
- Discuss opportunities for nurses in health system reform.
The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the provisions and implementation challenges of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 11-148) and other relevant health reform strategies. The session will identify specific implications and opportunities for nurses to both influence and participate in health reform initiatives unfolding.
