GH2 - Caring for the World’s Women: Challenges and Successes

Learning Objectives:
- Describe the process of determining the global needs of women to maintain health.
- Identify strategies for meeting the health education needs of women on an international basis.
- Recognize the outcomes of providing basic gynecologic care for women in underserved areas of the world.
This session will introduce the concept of global planning for meeting the gynecologic needs of women in underserved nations. The learners will be taken on a journey to Africa where gyn oncology and basic gyn care is rendered each summer to women in remote areas of the continent. Using public health concepts, an area of expertise for the presenter, specific goals and plans are developed each year with a multidisciplinary team. Outcomes and evaluation criteria will be presented that illustrate the successes and challenges for this group.
