Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe three labor support strategies to promote pain relief and physiologic labor progression.
  2. Demonstrate three physiologic maternal positions and their relative advantages during labor and birth.
  3. Discuss the current recommendations for the nursing management of 2nd stage labor.
Submission Description:
The focus of this seminar is the use of non-pharmacologic, complementary pain management strategies and maternal positioning and movement to facilitate labor progress. All content is evidence-based with references to current literature and research. Hands-on participation and small group work will be included to generate ideas for implementing these strategies into current nursing practice.
