Learning Objectives:
  1. Analyze the different classification systems used to describe the different hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
  2. Integrate nursing assessments with current management protocols to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes for the woman diagnosed with preeclampsia.
  3. Summarize management of hypertensive emergencies, renal dysfunction, and neurologic symptomatology of evolving complications of preeclampsia.
Submission Description:
Preeclampsia is a common medical complications encountered by nurses caring for women during pregnancy and postpartum. This session will review the current science of the disease and focus on nursing assessments and management from a multisystem perspective.
