Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the challenges in the OB triage environment
  • Review the standard work created for OB Triage
  • Summarize the process for standardizing triage practice

  • Submission Description:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Obstetrical (OB) Triage is the first stop for patients presenting to most L&D units for labor assessment or other pregnancy-related issues or concerns. Accommodating high volumes of triage patients is challenging, and it can directly impact throughput and patient and staff satisfaction. This is the story of one hospital's solution to reduce the average time in triage by twenty percent.

The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
