  • Describe the countermeasures used to help improve the timeliness of newborn screen collection in Maternity Services at UnityPoint Health- Des Moines.
  • Identify the time in which collection was changed to meet the goal.
  • Identify who the team collaborated with in this process to improve the timeliness of Metabolic Screens.

  • Submission Description:
    Timeliness of the collection of the Metabolic Screen can make a difference in the outcome of a newborn. By decreasing the time from the newborn's birth to the State Hygienic Laboratory receiving it, we were able to impact the care of the newborns at UnityPoint Health- Des Moines.
