Title: Transforming OB Triage into an OB Emergency Room

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss the EMTALA regulations involved with the pregnant patients and their care. Evaluate the appropriate placement of the patients who present to either the ER or the OB designated ER
  • Discuss the financial impact of the OB ER designation.
  • Discuss the patient satisfaction outcomes with the OB ER model.

  • Submission Description:
    An organizational approach for transforming from a typical OB Triage area in a Labor and Delivery unit to a designated OB Emergency Room. The resulting changes in practice, billing and ultimately in patient satisfaction.
