Submission Description:
This poster displays a mother’s experience with treatment for breast abscess caused by mastitis during breastfeeding. Management of her condition included ongoing PICC line antibiotics, percutaneous aspiration, and surgical incision and drainage. A couple of photographs depict the depth of her wound which required 2-3 feet of packing to promote its healing. Continuation of breastfeeding is encouraged during mastitis and its associated breast abscess condition, however, in this particular case, it was recommended to wean.
