Linda Wofford, DNP, CPNP, RN , Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences and Nursing, Belmont University, Nashville, TN

Discipline: Professional Issues (PI), Women’s Health (WH)

Learning Objectives:
  • To discuss the impact of provider education in the Standard Days Method on the health providers of Haiti
  • To explain results of the providers intention to teach SDM in practice
  • To identify the knowledge and skills results, limitations, and indications for further studies in the pilot study.

  • Submission Description:
This pilot study explored the impact of provider education in the Standard Days Method (SDM) of natural family planning in northern Haiti. Results show that the Georgetown University, Institute for Reproductive Health's Toolkit for Training Community Health Workers in SDM may improve knowledge and skills related to fertility awareness and family planning among health care providers in northern Haiti and that health care providers have great interest in offering this method to their clients.
