Title: F2 - Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders Task Force: Creating a Safety Net

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss the need to advocate and educate on Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) sending the message to childbearing women and all residents in the community that services are available.
  • To engage healthcare providers to help in early identification (screening )need to “Ask The ?”
  • Recognize community services are available so women do not need to suffer in silence promoting “You Are Not Alone” campaign.

  • Submission Description:
    PMAD, extremely common medical disorders affect one in five women of childbearing age. The foundation for the safety net project began in 2005 with a mother/ baby nurse asking the question, “What happens to women affected by PMAD after discharge?” Despite frequent prenatal visits many women are not screened, go undetected, suffering in silence.
